At the beginning of July, Snake Island Institute hosted a bipartisan delegation of US Senate staffers and experts, facilitated by the American Foreign Policy Council (AFPC), including congressional staffers from both parties, as part of their mission to better understand Ukraine’s security landscape. The delegation included Herman Pirchner, Jr. (President, AFPC), Joseph Beigun (Policy Analyst, U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee), Mykola Hryckowian (Head, DC Office, Center for U.S.-Ukrainian Relations), Annie Swingen (VP for External Relations, AFPC), as well as other esteemed participants.
Our institute shared our latest reports on the game-changing missions of naval drones of the Ukrainian army, and the findings from the recent national ceasefire poll. We also provided a frontline briefing to offer real-time insights into the current situation on the frontlines.
Our team also facilitated meetings for the delegation with the Deputy Commander of Ukraine’s 3rd Army Corps, the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, and representatives of the International Legion — Americans volunteering in the Ukrainian Army.
We believe that direct engagement on the ground is one of the most effective ways for U.S. policymakers to understand Ukraine and inform effective security policy for Europe and beyond. We look forward to making such exchanges a continuous trend.
